Fireball Beef Jerky: Dragon Spit!

You’ve had Fireball and you probably have snacked on some beef jerky a time or two, but what about Fireball infused beef jerky?  Yup, we’ve gone mad in the kitchen again.  Beware! The following recipe has been known to make even the most daring Fireballer spit fire.

What you’ll need:
1 electronic food dehydrator
1.5-2lbs lean beef sirloin tip
1 & ¼ cup Fireball Whisky
¼ cup pineapple juice
4 tbsp. liquid smoke
½ cup soy sauce or tamari sauce
¼ cup teriyaki sauce
¼ cup worcestershire sauce
3 tbsp. sriracha® sauce or to taste (the more the hotter!)
¼ cup balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp. cracked black pepper or to taste
½ cup brown sugar
1 tbsp. garlic powder
1.5 tsp. onion powder
1.5 tsp. habanero salt or to taste (optional)

Time to put on that crazy kitchen hat:
• Try to purchase the sirloin tip already cut to 1/8’’ thick to make prep time quicker. To easily cut the sirloin into strips stick the whole package in the freezer for an hour. You’ll want about 2‘’ wide pieces by about 6’’ long. Remember they will shrink slightly. Wash your hands!
• Take all the dry ingredients except for the brown sugar and mix together in a bowl. Use this as drub rub to season the meat thoroughly. Set aside.
• In a medium saucepan over low/medium heat, mix all of the wet ingredients including the Fireball & brown sugar. Heat until the brown sugar has dissolved. Refrigerate marinade until cool.
• Take a freezer size Ziploc bag and pour the cooled down marinade in it along with the sirloin pieces, go ahead and pour a little more Fireball in the bag and take a sip while you’re at it. Seal the bag and shake it to the beat of your favorite 90′s rock song, please nothing by Creed though. Time for a break, let the bag & it’s contents marinade for 4-7 hours.
• Arrange all the sirloin pieces on the dehydrator trays and dehydrate on 155° for 5-7hrs.
• You’ve done it; now feast like there is no tomorrow!

How to Find Fireball Whisky

I thought the first real post on our new blog should be something useful. Since I spend a large part of my day explaining to people how they can find and purchase Fireball, I figured this would be as useful as a post can be.

Finish Him!

Last month saw the reboot of one of the biggest video game franchises of all time when Mortal Kombat launched to the rejoicing of hardcore and casual fans alike as they snuck out of work early and lined up outside of Gamestops across America. Even if you can’t tell the difference between Scorpion and Sub-Zero, you can still appreciate the sheer joy that results from ripping the spine out of your best friend’s avatar in all its high-def glory.

If none of this makes any sense to you, watch this:

Mortal Kombat was one of the biggest pop-culture explosions of the 90s having spawned countless video games sequels, two big screen movies, two TV shows, comic books, action figures, lunch boxes, flame throwers….you get the point. Anyone near my age demographic will recall countless hours spent in front of the TV as a child mastering button combinations to pull off the perfect Fatality and utterly humiliate (and impress) your friends. These were the days before XBOX Live, headsets, and Wi-fi gaming. When you wanted to play video games with your friends, you had to be in the same room at the same.

What does any of this have to do with Fireball Whisky you ask? Well now that we’re all of legal age with the ability to purchase alcohol and video games that our parents don’t approve of, I urge you to join me in my crusade to make video games social again. Turn off the headsets, put away the Call of Duty, make some drinks, and invite your friends over for some classic arcade action in your living room. Hell, invite the girls over too. Some of them will enjoy this for upwards of 30 minutes (please note the heavy sarcasm in this statement)!

As you pummel each other into oblivion with a bottle of Fireball Whisky at your side, up the stakes with this friendly competition…

MORTAL KOMBAT + FIREBALL WHISKY =

  • The loser of each match takes a shot.
  • Two if defeated with a Fatality.
  • Three if defeated with a Fatality and a Flawless Victory.
  • Both players take a shot when a “Toasty!” occurs but neither is allowed to pause the game.

Enjoy the mayhem and let me know if you make any modifications to the rules above. Cheers!

Whisky vs. Whiskey (what really grinds my gears…)

The Internet is a crazy place where two kinds of people are constantly at blows with one another – spelling nazis and everyone else. Now I don’t claim to be perfect when it comes to the English language. Hell, I often have to look up the difference between desert and dessert before writing about either of those things. However, since I began working here at Fireball headquarters, one thing has consistently put my panties in a bunch and I laboriously spend most of my day correcting people on the difference between whiskey and whisky. Once I even had to correct a liquor magazine which incorrectly printed the “whiskey” spelling after interviewing our company’s owner about the very product they misspelled. It was then I vowed to put an end to this epidemic once and for all.

A quick Google search brings back dozens of different explanations in addition to even more articles about people complaining that the spelling doesn’t make a difference. To this I say, you cannot be more wrong. The short answer is the spellings have to do with the country of origin of the whiskey or whisky. Many say whoever is writing about said product should use the spelling most common in their own country. Granted, I am an American. I work in America. BUT Fireball is a Canadian product. And to simply spell Fireball as whiskey because America says so is a slap in the face to Bob & Doug McKenzie and everyone else from the True North.

The best and most detailed explanation I have found is this one on thekitchn.com. Click here for the full article: http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/whiskey-vs-whisky-whats-the-difference-straight-up-cocktails-and-spirits-100476

But if you want the quick take-away so you don’t get made fun of at your next spirits tasting, here it is…

Whiskey/whisky nmemonics

  • Countries that have E’s in their names (UnitEd StatEs and IrEland) tend to spell it whiskEy (plural whiskeys)
  • Countries without E’s in their names (Canada, Scotland, and Japan) spell it whisky (plural whiskies)”

Now stop spelling it wrong on my Facebook page, damnit. I know where you drink……….

Ignite the Night®!

This summer Team Fireball (aka: Me) is traveling across the country to spread the good word of FIreball in some of our new markets. We’re calling this epic adventure “Ignite the Night®” and we want YOU to join us.

Here’s how this usually works — I fly into a city with a list of all the bars that have Fireball. Then I bar hop. I bar hop ’till I canst bar hop no more. And as I barrel through your fair city I create a wave of excitement that involves delicious cinnamon whisky. My goal is to amass as many people as I can on my bar hopping adventure and to ultimately buy as many people shots as humanly possible.

Let me restate that in case you missed it: if you bar hop with me I will buy you free shots of Fireball Whisky. Let that sink in for a minute……………OK, good. Now what other liquor company offers this level of pandemonium?

Nashthrill

Nashville, Tennessee is what I like to call Fireball Whisky Ground Zero. The bartenders there have been integral in spreading the good word of cinnamon whisky to the masses and for that, I whole-heartedly thank them. But what good are words of thanks when you can give someone whisky of thanks? So with that I’m proud to announce that the first ever Fireball Whisky Service Industry Party will take place on Sunday, October 2 in Nashville, Tennessee.

This invite-only bartender party will include an open bar of Fireball and beer, exclusive free merchandise, a TBA guest DJ and a performance by local rockers The Honeymoon Thrillers! Is your mouth watering yet?

This event is closed to the public so you’ll have to score an invite from me or one of my Fireball teamsters. If you’re a bartender and you live in the Nashville area, post a comment below and tell me why you want to attend.

You won’t want to miss this. Trust me…….

Have a Hell of a Halloween

You think you know Halloween? Fireball Whisky knows Halloween. Fireball Whisky IS Halloween.

No more kids and candy. We’re not bobbing for apples this year. We’re not playing dress up with mom and dad and we’re definitely not staying home and watching scary movies on TV.

Halloween should be the craziest night of your life. It’s packed bars and sweaty dance floors. It’s party crashing with Superman, the Headless Horseman, and that sexy kitten you just met. It’s office hook-ups that should never happen, text messages that should never be sent and trying to remember the name of the scantily clad nurse you made out with.

On Halloween all bets are off. Guys, you know that pick up line you’ve been dying to use? Fire away. Tonight you’re Batman, not Carl the assistant manager at Pizza Hut Express. You’ll thank me later. And if your parents are on Facebook, change those privacy settings now.

Do Halloween right this year.  Join us at one of our parties or cause pandemonium at your own with one our Fireball drink recipes.

The Fire Diaries

Here at Fireball Whisky, we often talk about where we’re going or how to find us. You see pictures or posts but never get to hear the nitty gritty details of our adventures, some of which the Internet isn’t quite ready for. It’s sort of a “what happens in Vegas” concept but use your imagination to fill in the blanks. Here’s the first of a series we’re deeming the “Fire Diaries.” The trials and tribulations of whisky ninjas traveling across these 50 states getting down and dirty with you, the fans!

Flashback to November, 11, 2011. Even though it wasn’t Friday the 13th, something was bound to happen on triple eleven. The setting: Athens, Georgia. My co-pilot: Bob Bowling (Colorado Brand Ambassador). Our hotel: the oh-so-lovely Howard Johnson Inn. If you’ve ever seen what a hotel looks like in a 70’s slasher movie, there’s no need for any further description. Oh wait, you can’t smell a movie! Here’s a few descriptors to really lock in your senses: Febreeze resistant, burnt hair, a hint of pine scented all purpose cleaner. I digress…

Bob and I catch a taxi downtown. A twenty-minute drive that lands us smack dab in the middle of the Georgia-Auburn NCAA rivalry weekend. The city was packed like sardines yet vibrant and alive. We grabbed dinner at Clocked, which is definitely worth checking out, then hit the town. That may be an understatement. Let me clarify. We hit Athens so hard we were almost recruited as linebackers for the game that following day.

Fast forward to 2:30 am. Bob and I stand in line for 40 minutes waiting for a late-night slice and ready ourselves for the ride back to our hotel. Keep in mind, the city is at one of its highest peaks in population for the year. THERE ARE NO CABS. We’re dressed for 60 degree weather but on this December night, the temperature drops to approximately 30 degrees.

Unlucky and underdressed, we anxiously shiver our way to a street corner shared by two college girls. We strike up a conversation and come to find, just moments before we walked up, someone had robbed them of the pizza they had just purchased. Seriously! Who does that? We offer them a slice and negotiate sharing a cab.

Around roughly quarter to four in the morning, we catch a taxi. Being the chivalrous gentlemen we are, we offer to drop the girls off first. Home free! The warmth of the taxi envelops me. All I could think about was that Campbell’s soup commercial, just a kid thawing out after a cold winter bout, carefree.

Then all of the sudden, the cab slows drastically. To spice things up a bit, let’s place the cab in the middle of an intersection, add a panicked cab driver with a mosquito like sense to move toward bright lights and we’ve got ourselves a recipe for disaster. We coast into the oncoming traffic lane to a definitive stop!

Curious of the standard operating procedure for a cab dying, we reached out to our shaken chauffeur. He didn’t speak English, however he was fluent in sign language. Flapping his hands around attempting to silence our distress, he makes a phone call. He mutters “new cab.” Our minds are set at ease. What’s another few minutes waiting, we’ve come this far.

A new shiny yellow taxi peeks its headlights over the horizon and stops on the opposite side of the street. Finally we’re going home for real this time. Well… not exactly. The cab driver jumps out of his taxi, gets in the other car and it drives away. Appalled, we watch in amazement. Insert R rated language here. We’re now worse off than we were in the beginning.

To conclude, we made the best of the situation and ate cold pizza until karma delivered us a taxi. I never thought I’d be so happy to be back in my hotel room where I could drift off to sleep nestled above the cigarette burned sheets like King Arthur in a king sized bed.

Cupcake Wars!

Fireball Whisky recently had a surprise guest-starring role on an episode of The Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars.” Culinary prodigy Heather Saffer not only used Fireball as an ingredient in her confectionary concoction, but also blew away the judges to take home the $10,000 grand prize. We’d like to think we had something to do with it. ;)

If you’re in the Rochester, New York area, stop by her gourmet shop, Dollop and have a seat at the cupcake bar. You can also check out her blog at heathercupcakes.com.

Watch the full video below and keep an eye out for us at the following times…

  • 18:10 – Announcing Strawberry Whiskey Cupcake with Fireball Frosting
  • 21:15 – Showing Fireball Whisky as ingredient
  • 25:40 – Describing the cupcake to the judges (mentions Fireball)

Weird World Records

Sometimes at Fireball we have to do things we don’t want to do, like show up, and show up wearing pants. And sometimes showing up is followed by doing stuff, and sometimes that stuff leads to awesome.

Wait, hang on, I’m going too fast. Let me start at the beginning…

Recently at Fireball, we were working on a quiz. An amazing quiz. A quiz for all of you, the little people. Oh, this quiz is going to blow your socks off. It would, using what may seem to be a few simple questions, reach into your soul and draw forth your very essence, that special thing that makes you YOU. That’s right. This quiz will tell you what kind of Fireball Drink You Are.

Now before you start clamoring and shouting and rabble-rousing and pleading, nay, demanding, that I direct you to this fabled quiz, you should know that it isn’t finished yet. This kind of exhaustive research can take days, weeks, hell, sometimes 4 to 5 thousand years. No, today I want to share with you some of what our research has uncovered. Some of this may or may not make it into our soul-defining quiz, so I present for you here…

WEIRD WORLD RECORDS

1. Fastest 100-meter hurdles…wearing swin fins (female)

This is Maren Zonker.

She ran the 100-meter hurdles in freaking flippers, and she did it in 22.35 seconds. To put that in perspective, the fastest time EVER for an electronically-timed, regular, boring ol’ 100-meter hurdle in normal person shoes is 12.21 seconds. It only took Maren an extra 10 seconds to do this. She must be incredibly fast, which begs the question: why in the hell doesn’t she just run normal hurdles?

2. The World’s Largest Pocket Knife

This one is just stupid. Here’s a picture of the world’s largest pocket knife.

Notice anything wrong with this picture? If you said, “there’s no way that knife will fit in a pocket,” then congratulations, you’re smarter than the two dudes that built this ridiculous not-a-pocket-knife knife. According to Wikipedia, “A pocket knife is a folding knife with one or more blades that fit inside the handle that can still fit in a pocket.” So unless this is for an 80-foot-tall pair of pants, I don’t think this counts. Someone call Guinness and let them know they’ve been hoodwinked!

3. Most Beer Steins Carried Over 40 Meters (female)

This is Anita Schwarz carrying 19 beer steins:

There isn’t a joke here, we just want to hire her to carry Fireball around this way.

4. Full body ice contact endurance

This is Wim Hof:

He spent 102 minutes encased in ice. Amazingly, he looks pretty miserable in this photo. Wait, did we type “amazingly’? We meant obviously. Get this man a shot of Fireball, stat.

5. Largest display of Star Wars Clone Troopers built with interlocking plastic bricks

The force is strong with this record. Like, 35,310 individual models strong.

No word yet on whether or not The Emperor is pleased with their record-breaking effort. Too bad they’re going to get blown to hell, all because of a small, unprotected thermal exhaust port. Tragic.

Speaking of breaking records, there’s been a lot of murmuring from bars around the country trying to one-up each other by getting the largest number of people to take a Fireball shot at once. Any bartenders out there up for the challenge? Post your record breaking Fireball pictures to our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/fireballwhisky

Fireball GIFts

Ever seen someone belly up to the bar and buy a round for everyone in the place? Plenty of thoughts begin to race. Who is that guy? Did he win the lottery? That guy must be crazy rich? Well there’s always one more option and in this case that guy may be with Fireball Whisky. Sometimes you need to show up and say thanks to the fans so that’s exactly what we did with a few Fireball GIFts. Cheers!

Tailgating 101

Football season is here my fellow Fireballers. Tonight we have the Cowboys invading the Giants in East Rutherford where it is sure to be a smash mouth game. So, while we can’t change the outcome of the game, we can change how we prepare for it… I’m talking about tailgating here folks. One of the few times in our adult lives when it’s acceptable to practically bare it all, paint our chests & faces like a long-lost ICP fan, while chest bumping our best friend, all in honor of a football team.

But there are rules and guidelines we need to adhere to. I’m here to educate you on how to truly party like the Lord of the Lot you are. These are the must-haves you can’t go without to guarantee you’re one-upping that notorious group of amateurs one section over in lot J. You know the guys who think they are real fans because they have been wearing the same jersey for the past 10 days, while continuing to bump “We Are The Champions” over & over? Trust me, they’re ridiculous. Follow these simple tips to take back the mythical tailgating trophy and show those Chads over in lot J how it’s supposed to be done.

1. Fireball
This is a given, but make sure you bring enough to share as we Fireball fanatics like to spread the fire. Also, if your state sells Fireball in plastic bottles, I’d encourage that. Nobody wants be navigating around broken glass in a parking lot.

2. Beer
I feel like this a given too, as no tailgate is complete without a cold beer to enjoy alongside Fireball. Bonus: Pick up some hard cider when you’re at the store, it mixes perfectly with Fireball, especially in the fall.

3. Bottle/Can Koozie
You’ve got to show off your team pride with a koozie of your favorite team. Bonus: For only $5, you can get a Fireball bottle & a can koozie over here: http://www.fireballwhisky.com/gear (Come on, its $5. We’ll even ship it to you for free!)

4. Sausage
Grease and meat, that is all.

5. Chicken Wings
Bonus: Try our Fireball original formula hot sauce, again available on our website. http://www.fireballwhisky.com/gear/

6. Folding Chairs
Another basic item to make sure you have a few of in your trunk. You know that without these, your lazy bum is making friends with the concrete.

7. Folding Tables
As you would guess, it will complement the chairs quite well. Plus if you’re able to hang with me so far, you’re going to want somewhere to cook that food on!
And yeah, eat it off of too.

8. Team Flag
Not too large, but not too small. It’s all about the height!

9. Portable Power
Bet you wouldn’t have thought about this one, but you’ll thank me later. You’re running quite the operation here, so you’re going to need some juice to make sure you keep it all together my friend.

10. Ginormous cooler
You have to store the Fireball! Depending on how long you plan to keep the party going, you’re going to want to make sure it all stays cool.

11. Footballs
Yes, plural, everyone needs to warm up. You never know when the coach will put you in, dude!

12. Television or live streaming computer
Now a serious tailgater is not only interested in the game about to go down inside, a serious tailgater also needs to keep an eye on his fantasy players playing around the country.

13. Lastly but most importantly, a Designated Driver.
Enjoy the game, enjoy the Fireball and thank your D.D.!

Are you ready for some Fireball?

The Ultimate Dragon Slayer!

Our first ever bartender photo contest came to a culmination this past weekend.  We challenged bartenders across the country to pull out all the stops and think like the Fireball dragon by capturing their best “dragon slayer” shot pour.  We then uploaded their pictures to our Facebook fan page and let our Facebook fans vote for their favorite.

In the end and after a close battle, we crowned Toph Holland from Ram Restaurant & Brewery in Oregon as the ultimate Fireball dragon slayer.  His dragon slayer picture titled, “Fighting fire with fire” included real fire and a risky four bottle pour.  Toph and a friend will be flown down to New Orleans to party with the Fireball Whisky crew at the Official Fireball Halloween Party at Check Point Charlie’s the weekend of Halloween.

A big thanks to all the awesome bartenders that participated
and thanks to all the Fireball fans out there who voted for their favorite shot!

Stay tuned for more giveaways and contests to come.

Halloween 2012, The Recap.

Our Halloween weekend extravaganza in New Orleans has come to an end and we’re still licking our cinnamon wounds waiting for it all to happen again. Costumes, good friends, and of course Fireball made for quite an eventful weekend.

Toph, a bartender from Oregon who won our inaugural bartender contest on Facebook joined us in New Orleans to ignite the nite and visit some of our favorite watering holes in The French Quarter. Here is his recap from the weekend:

“New Orleans, Halloween 2012

Our Fireball weekend in New Orleans was absolutely awesome. Shoulder to shoulder with thousands of folks dressed up in the most elaborate and creative costumes imaginable. We strolled in awe, soaking in the sights and sounds of the night. Music made up of chatter laced with jazz, laughter and acoustic panhandlers, echoed through the pillars of the French Quarter. We watched a constant mingling of the good, the bad and the ugly. Super heroes, Unicorn ballerinas and the walking dead stumble through Bourbon Street with a hurricane in hand, in a sort of controlled chaos. From then on our diet would consist of Fireball, Abita Amber, oysters, café au lait, Beignets, turtle soup, gator sausage, crawfish, catfish, seafood gumbo and of course more Fireball. The Fireball crew, led by The Mad Hatter, Jeff the Magical magician, and an entourage of colorful characters, led us on a blurry 8-hour pub-crawl marathon.

It went kinda like:

“Fireball appear!” “Fireball disappear!” “Fireball appear!” “And for my next trick… Shots shots shots!” “ FIREBALL!!!!! FIREBALL!!!” “Where is Bob? Hey, look Pizza!!”
We had a blast hitting up some of the coolest bars and many of the locals favorites. We are thankful for meeting and being able to party with the Fireball crew. Thanks guys!!

Christopher and Clare”
